Miguel is a living testament to following your dreams, no matter what happens along the way. Having gotten his start with independent label Black Ice, things didn't necessarily turn out as expected. While he did experience his first video, "Getcha Hands Up", be aired on BET's 106 & Park in 2006, it also marked the end of his dealings with Black ice.

After working more than 6 years at building his brand, he landed an opportunity to sign with Jive Records in late 2007. His debut album was not released until 2010, and initially did not perform well in sales. Miguel pressed on, promoting the album, and it eventually gained more buzz, ultimately selling more than 400,000 copies. In the meantime, he was also writing for a host of other artists, contributing to Usher's Raymond vs. Raymond and Here I Stand, as well as songs for Asher Roth and Musiq Soulchild.

Miguel was eventually moved to RCA Records with the shutdown of Jive, and he released "Kaleidoscope". He will be releasing Wild Hearts on June 30, 2015.

Look for Miguel in this year's BET Experience.
